In March, HERA convened higher education and industry leaders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to discuss how microcredentials can help solve significant issues for employers — and how HERA institutions can lead the way. To date, HERA has funded 24 new microcredential courses at 11 institutions and one community partner that have either launched already or are currently under development.

Five programs have already completed at least one cohort, serving more than 180 students – and counting!
But as is often the case, making progress yields new questions: What can we do next to advance our region and support our employers? And how can we keep this momentum going, to ensure that what we have started together evolves to become a sustainable, region-wide effort to ensure that our workforce can keep up with ever-changing needs?
As you’ll read in this newsletter, we are addressing these questions and continuing to move forward.
